Gucci Hosts Star-Studded Cruise Collection Catwalk at London’s Tate Modern

The Tate Modern museum in London was transformed into a lush green jungle for one night only as luxury Italian fashion house Gucci hosted a star-studded cruise collection catwalk. Celebrities like actors Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott, singers Dua Lipa and Solange Knowles, and Salma Hayek were in attendance, along with Gucci’s parent company CEO Francois-Henri Pinault.

The event showcased the first cruise collection by creative director Sabato De Sarno, featuring delicate sheer outfits, relaxed denim, and luxurious accessories adorned with the brand’s iconic double-G logo. The runway wound its way around hundreds of ferns and overhanging plants, creating a stark contrast to the industrial show space.

De Sarno’s designs combined luxurious evening looks with casual jackets and denim, all paired with comfortable footwear like Mary Jane shoes and ballet flats. The show notes described the collection as a mix of “rigor and extravagance, strength in delicacy, Englishness with an Italian accent.”

The historical link between Gucci and the U.K. was also highlighted, with founder Guccio Gucci drawing inspiration from his time working as a bellhop at the Savoy hotel in London over a century ago. This experience led to the opening of Gucci’s first store in Florence in 1921, marking the beginning of the iconic fashion house’s history.
