Kirsten Dunst and Daniel Bruhl Join Ruben Östlund’s New Film “The Entertainment System Is Down”

Ruben Östlund, the Swedish filmmaker known for his provocative and boundary-pushing films, is gearing up for his next project titled “The Entertainment System Is Down.” And he has just added two big names to the cast – Kirsten Dunst and Daniel Brühl.

The film is set on a long flight where the onboard entertainment system malfunctions, leaving the passengers to deal with their own boredom. Östlund, who is currently shopping the project at Cannes, has already secured Keanu Reeves as a star. To add to the realism, the production has even purchased a retired Boeing 747 for the shoot.

Östlund is known for pushing the boundaries of cinema, and he has stated that he hopes “The Entertainment System Is Down” will cause the biggest walkout in Cannes history. With scenes that challenge audiences to sit with their own thoughts, including one where a child waits five minutes in real-time for an iPad to become available, this film is sure to spark conversation.

Both Dunst and Brühl are coming off of successful projects, with Dunst starring in the blockbuster hit “Civil War” and Brühl filming a role in Ron Howard’s upcoming feature “Eden.” This will be Östlund’s third English-language film, following the critically acclaimed “Triangle of Sadness” and “The Square.”
