Veteran journalist Sam Rubin, who anchored KTLA’s entertainment coverage for over 30 years, passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 64. The news was confirmed by KTLA news anchor Frank Buckley, who described Rubin’s death as “shocking” and “hard to comprehend in the moment.”

Rubin, known for his warm personality and disarming interviews, was a beloved figure in the local news industry and the entertainment world. His colleagues at KTLA were deeply saddened by the news, with Buckley stating that “Sam was KTLA” and that the newsroom was in tears.

Born in San Diego and raised in Los Angeles, Rubin joined KTLA’s “Morning News” program in 1991, where he quickly became a fixture on morning television. His deep knowledge of Hollywood and the entertainment industry made him a respected figure in the industry.
